On Tuesday the 20th of March 2007, I was inducted onto the Board of QAHC, There were seven other Board members present, plus one on the phone link up. Also present were two members of the staff of QAHC.
It transpired that I knew three of the Members; two I had met at previous meetings held at QAHC, and the third form the church that we used to attend in Currumbin.
The evening was conducted by the Chairman, Mark Morein in a very professional manner, and I found it to be very educational.
I have been asked to give a talk on Transsexualism in May, as most of the members, other than one Female to Male (FtM), are not really au fait with Transsexualism. This I will do along with my FtM colleague.
There are many areas of concern for Transsexuals that will need to be discussed over the coming months, and I will endeavour to make that my job for the near future.
I genuinely believe that as QAHC is now concerned with LGBT health as a whole that the issues concerning Transsexuals will now begin to be addressed. Again, as we know, the main problem is education, as they readily admit that they know very little about us. Hence the May session, in order to help them start to understand us.
I have also given them the OK to go into our web site and then go into our booklet, “Transsexuals’ Experiences” as a lead up, in order that they can prepare questions for the May session. This is in order to help their learning curve.

Dear Kathy
Thank you for your recent expression of interest to fill the vacant position on the QAHC Board of Directors.
I am delighted to inform you that the Board would like to extend an invitation to you to join the QAHC Board of Directors.
As you are not currently a financial member of QAHC, you will need to submit a membership application form (available from www.qahc.org.au/members ) and pay the relevant membership fee.
Your application will be considered as the first item of business at the Board meeting in March.
You will then formally be appointed to the Board.
The Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday evening of the month from 6:30pm.
You can attend via teleconference, or in person (sandwiches available from 6pm and travel costs reimbursed).
The next meeting will be on Tuesday 20th March.
New members on the Board are given a brief induction to the organisation and the workings of the Board.
Please contact Paul Martin (General Manager) to arrange a time to meet with him and/or Mark Morein (President) for your induction.
