I had a very useful and enjoyable 10 days away in Sydney, staying with Marion. In that time I met some new people, such as Brenda and her partner Sharon, and spent a very enjoyable evening with them. I had met Brenda via the Nuttycats forum, so this was an opportunity to meet her in the flesh.
We also saw Tanya, our president in NSW and spent time talking through problems and where we were heading.
I met many of Marion’s family and friends, as well as people that she works with, or even does her nails at home.
We spent an interesting 30 minutes with Dr Douglass, who runs an ELOS clinic in Sydney and he gave permission for his name to go onto our website. I have also collected with Marion’s help some details on services that we can use in the area, as well as those from Tanya for the Hunter area. These will appear on our website.
On my return, I found a message for me to contact the QLD Justice department, in order to set up a meeting about a GRC in QLD for those residing here, but born abroad. I finally had that meeting on the 9th of February and it lasted for 40 minutes. The information that I left will be collated and given to the QLD Attorney-General, in the hope that we can have this very useful facility, as it will make it easier for all born abroad, but can help ex UK people immensely, as then they can use the Overseas Track, with no medical reports.
Whilst on the subject of UK and their Act 2004, please remember that the Fast Track will cease as from April 2007.
