I read ‘Draft and Full reports” from all over the World concerning Transsexual (TS) problems!
Why am I, under-whelmed that they all address, or try to address the same problems?
Discrimination, in all its guises
Abuse, verbal, physical, mental and of course Murder
Intolerance
Lack of understanding
Lack of Medical Care
Lack of access to Mental-Health Care
What TS care services are there and where?
Self esteem
Loss of family, home, job and friends!
Depression and frustration
Self administration of drugs and hormones
Work in the sex industry to raise cash for SRS (Sex Re-assignment Surgery)
STDs and HIV
Need for education of professional Health Providers, whom we are forced to deal with.
Dealing with un-educated ‘Gate Keepers’
Lack of empathy and understanding about our plight
The great number of homophobes that we encounter in the medical profession
Making us jump through ‘HOOPS’ to prove who we are
SUICIDE (Attempted and Achieved) WAY TOO HIGH and all are due to the above
The youngsters coming through the ‘System’ need better than this!!!!
We need to have it clearly stated that ’Transsexualism’ is not a mental condition, but is a medical condition that can be corrected by surgery!
